Assistant Superintendent
About the role
The Assistant Superintendent position at Elmington Construction involves assisting in leading and managing the field team and overseeing all work on site. Key responsibilities include maintaining quality standards, conducting inspections, adhering to safety regulations, ensuring site cleanliness, collaborating with the Project Manager team, coordinating subcontractors and equipment/materials, and preparing various reports.
Responsibilities
- Assist in leading and managing the field team
- Oversee all work on site
- Manage rough carpentry including layout of foundations/walls/decks, installing wood blocking/hardware/wood guard rails, setting frames/doors/windows, minor concrete formwork, and minor demolition
- Model safety as a core guiding principle and bring safety concerns to the Superintendent
- Hold subs accountable to proper housekeeping of project site
- Communicate material delivery needs to the project team and Superintendent
- Perform a detailed review of project documents to anticipate RFI’s and future coordination issues
- Aid in daily reports, progress reports, and compliance reports
- Document subcontractor issues
- Aid in planning the project and updating the project schedule
- Review approved submittals and ensure installed work complies with submittals and specifications
- Help drive project closeout and owner turnover
- Demonstrate adherence to company policies and processes and teach them to new team members
- Prioritize and actively mentor and train others
