About the role

The Assistant Superintendent position supports field operations across multiple segments of the SR400 Express Lanes corridor. This role collaborates with the Project Controls and Scheduling teams to maintain alignment with the project schedule and ensures compliance with GDOT standards, safety requirements, and environmental plans.

Responsibilities

  • Aid in coordinating work across multiple segments of the corridor, supporting oversight of foremen, field engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Collaborate with the Project Controls and Scheduling teams to maintain alignment with the Primavera P6 baseline schedule and weekly look-aheads.
  • Maintain oversight of construction activities such as bridge structures, earthwork, temporary traffic control, utility relocation, and storm drainage in compliance with GDOT TP Attachments.
  • Serve as a liaison between field crews and project management, ensuring timely communication and documentation.
  • Enforce safety standards and participate in safety audits and inspections.
  • Assist in reviewing subcontractor work plans, schedules, and material/equipment needs.
  • Support daily reporting of progress, manpower, and equipment utilization.
  • Participate in coordination meetings and help resolve field issues promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and traffic control plans.
  • Assist with documentation for quality control, including GDOT Standard Specs and SRTA requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of heavy civil construction experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or assistant superintendent role.
  • Experience with highway or bridge projects preferred; GDOT or other Southeastern DOT experience is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
  • Knowledge of GDOT specifications, safety standards, and traffic control requirements.
  • Familiarity with project management software and documentation tools (e.g., Procore, HCSS).
  • Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents, schedules, and traffic control plans.
  • Commitment to safety and quality standards.

Pay
