Assistant Stylist

General Summary & Scope

The Assistant Stylist is responsible for engaging with guests, consulting on hair care needs, and recommending products and services. This is a temporary position preparing talent for a stylist role, focusing on performance, guest service, and process.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Deliver exceptional guest service and contribute to meeting or exceeding retail and service sales goals.
• Mentor Stylist in meeting or exceeding sales and productivity goals for hair services and haircare products.
• Support mentor Stylist in meeting or exceeding sales and productivity goals for hair services and haircare products.
• Perform hair services including hair design, haircuts, color, texture, hair treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, brow services, and ear piercing (where applicable).
• Support the execution of in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives.
• Stay informed about new and existing industry trends, products, and services.
• Maintain prompt, regular attendance.
• Develop guest relationships through consultations and appropriate retail and service recommendations.
• Serve all guests, including walk-in guests, in a timely and efficient manner.
• Establish professional peer and brand partner relationships.
• Share the benefits of the guest loyalty program with guests.
• Be knowledgeable of and ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures.
• Utilize appropriate booking and clientele systems.
• Communicate any supply needs to the Experience Manager.
• Maintain outstanding store operational standards.
• Attend mandatory trainings and meetings.
• Adhere to the Ulta Beauty dress code.
• Protect company assets by following loss prevention best practices.
• Execute other operational tasks as directed.

Job Qualifications

• Education: Cosmetology license
• Skills: Basic understanding of salon techniques, equipment, and products; developed communication skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team; ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
• Special Position Requirements: Flexible schedule to include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Frequent mobility during shift
• Frequent bending, reaching, and twisting
• Continuous lifting and/or moving up to 10 lbs. during shift
• Continuous coordination and manipulation of objects during shift
• Frequent use of a computer, telephonic devices, and related office and cosmetology supplies

Pay Range

The pay range for this position is $15.92 - $19.00/ Hour. Exact pay will be based on factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, level, shift, geographic location, and business and organizational needs.
