About the Role
The Assistant Store Manager supports the store manager in overseeing sales, operations, asset protection, and human resources to ensure an excellent customer experience and maximum profitability.
Responsibilities
- Prepares weekly schedules to ensure proper floor coverage within fiscal guidelines; reviews time sheets and payroll documentation for accuracy.
- Promotes customer service by ensuring associates greet and assist customers; responds to inquiries and complaints professionally and timely.
- Supervises associates in sales, inventory receipt, cash reconciliation, and customer services.
- Models sales expectations by utilizing techniques and communicating product knowledge; recommends or locates merchandise based on customer needs.
- Maintains a visually appealing store through proper housekeeping, visual merchandising, and organization; trains associates on these techniques.
- Monitors associate sales activities and productivity; acknowledges performance and motivates associates to reach full potential.
- Performs financial activities including cash handling, reporting, price changes, and merchandise handling; ensures register transactions comply with policy.
- Administers operational processes such as inventory receipt/dispatch, daily replenishment, and physical inventories.
- Facilitates general store operations to ensure safe and efficient functioning; maintains store working order.
- Supports compliance with laws, loss prevention policies, and operating procedures; conducts training to reinforce controls.
- Assists in recruiting, hiring, and developing store associates; interprets performance reports and delivers coaching; provides feedback for appraisals.
- Other duties as assigned; responsibilities may vary by brand.

Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Minimum 3 years of prior retail or sales management experience preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to travel to stores throughout the district.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Knowledge of administrative aspects of store operations.
- Ability to stand, maneuver on sales floor and stockroom, operate register, lift and carry 50 pounds, hand/fold merchandise, climb, reach, push/pull.
- Regular attendance is essential to ensure adequate coverage.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Pay
Starting at $19.16/hour or city/local minimum wage as applicable.
