About the role
The Assistant Manager, Store, role at Goodwill is designed for experienced managers with a minimum of 2 years of supervising retail operations. This is a high visibility leadership position where you'll manage daily operations, support financial goals, and lead a team of 20-30 people.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Retail Store Manager to achieve goals and objectives and increase sales and donations.
- Recommend changes to operational procedures to maximize expense to revenue ratios.
- Promote safety for all employees, ensuring compliance with OSHA and CARF standards.
- Maintain a functional awareness of competition and retail trends, suggesting appropriate courses of action.
- Manage daily operations of all retail store functional areas, including sales floor, store front, donation store, production areas, moving product internally, and storage facilities.
- Oversee hiring, performance management, and employee goal setting in at least one department.
- Ensure adherence to Goodwill policies and maintain up-to-date knowledge of safety standards and all policies.
- Support the Retail Store Manager in conducting employee training, awareness, and knowledge transfer.
- Be available for on-call responsibilities during store hours.
Qualifications
- A High School diploma or equivalent is required; some college is preferred.
- At least 2 years supervising Retail Operations (or similar) with experience of being held accountable and responsible for the success of the business, operations, and financial results of a function or department.
- Proficient in utilizing office equipment, office software, and web-based applications.
- Ability to manage corporate email and calendar, and organize multiple projects.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- An interest and empathy for people with disabilities and disadvantages.
- Ability to obtain walkie stacker and/or forklift certification.
- Ability to work varied schedules, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
