As an H-E-B Assistant Store Leader, you'll be responsible for the total merchandising operation of the Store, including Customer and Partner relations, as well as its financial performance. H-E-B School of Retail Leadership (SORL) Program to be completed upon hire, which develops individuals to become Assistant Store Operation Leaders
What is the work?
Management / Leadership: Spends majority of time using independent judgment making employment-related and business decisions, or effectively recommending such decisions, including product- and department-related strategies, hiring, promoting, disciplining, suspending, discharging, rewarding, or otherwise engaging in resolving Partner-related matters
Ensures appropriate inventory levels
Manages / controls shrink to meet or exceed Corporate strategy goals
Ensures compliance with all Federal, State, and H-E-B regulations and standards for product freshness, food safety, refrigeration, and sanitation
Delegates work to appropriate Partners based on complexity of tasks and skills, interests, and individual capabilities
Monitors progress on assigned tasks and follows up on the completion of assignments and end results
Accountable for department labor and production schedules; communicates schedules to Department Managers
Fosters a sense of teamwork among Partners to ensure a focus towards common goals
Coaches and delivers real time feedback that develops Partners and drives them towards achieving business results
Helps manage performance and development of School of Retail Management (SORM), School of Retail Leadership (SORL), and Intern Program Partners relating to in-store merchandising issues
Owes personal development through pursuing ongoing leadership and product knowledge training
What is your background?
Bachelor's degree (or proven track record w/ several years of management experience)
Extensive operational experience
Food Safety certification
Knowledge of government regulations
Knowledge of product presentation, cross-merchandising, and product / profit mix
Knowledge of marketing to customer trends, demographics, segments, etc.
Knowledge of logistics, warehouse, and procurement processes
Comprehensive understanding of marketing concepts (e.g., markdowns, seasonal, exit strategies, display locations, etc.)
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel), and H-E-B systems
Advanced interpersonal, listening, and verbal / written communication skills
Advanced customer service skills
Strong analytical skills
Execution management skills
Proven leadership ability; change leader
Ability to manage multiple priorities and shift focus between projects and tasks
