About the role
The Assistant Manager, Store, role at Goodwill is designed for experienced managers with a background in retail, hospitality, or production. Key responsibilities include managing daily operations, supporting financial goals, and leading a team of 20-30 people.
Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operations of a retail store, acting as the Retail Store Manager in the Manager's absence.
- Support the Retail Store Manager in achieving financial goals, including budgeting, financial reporting, and profit and loss.
- Maintain safety standards and ensure adherence to OSHA and CARF guidelines.
- Train and oversee staff, ensuring safety, productivity, and success in all areas of the store.
- Hire, manage, and recommend terminations for employees in at least one department.
- Collaborate with other management personnel to enhance store performance and contribute to business development initiatives.
Requirements
- A High School diploma or equivalent.
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience in retail operations.
- Experience being held accountable and responsible for the success of the business, operations, and financial results of a function or department.
- Proficiency in utilizing office equipment, software, and web-based applications.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, people, and retail store functions.
- Ability to work within a deadline-pressured environment.
- Understanding of marketing and retail principles, production processes, and quality control.
- Ability to create, review, and understand statistical information.
- Ability to adapt, adjust, and mold to changing circumstances.
- Ability to make difficult choices and be accountable for overall retail store performance.
- Empowerment of team members to manage and lead their departments or functional areas.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- An interest and empathy for people with disabilities and disadvantages.
- Ability to obtain walkie stacker and/or forklift certification.
- Ability to work varied schedules, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
Qualifications
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: At least 2 years supervising Retail Operations (or similar).
- Skills: Proficient in office equipment, software, web-based applications, and Goodwill policies.
- Physical Abilities: Continuous lifting up to 45 lbs, occasional carrying up to 44 lbs, frequent reaching above shoulder, bending, kneeling/crawling, twisting, pushing/pulling, and frequent standing/walking.
