About the Role

The Assistant Manager supports the Store Manager in overseeing store operations and administrative duties, ensuring the store meets its goals. This role requires in-depth knowledge of all store departments, adherence to company policies, and a passion for delivering outstanding customer service. The Assistant Manager assumes supervisory control in the Store Manager’s absence and is trained in Store Manager responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Store Manager in controlling store assets and establishing action plans for departmental and store-wide responsibilities, including selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
  • Assume responsibility for the entire store in the Store Manager’s absence.
  • Consult with the Store Manager on personnel recruiting, training, and evaluation.
  • Provide guidance to employees and customers across all departments.
  • Monitor inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability.
  • Direct staff to complete departmental responsibilities and standards.
  • Keep the Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends.
  • Maintain high-quality customer service standards.
  • Perform general administrative duties and train in Store Manager responsibilities.
  • Deliver extraordinary customer service, including assisting customers during peak periods.
  • Promote and sell merchandise and services offered by Hibbett | City Gear.
  • Uphold all company policies, procedures, and standards as outlined in operational manuals.
  • Protect company assets by ensuring accuracy and effectiveness of internal control procedures and reporting potential fraud risks.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervise employees in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Carry out supervisory duties, including interviewing, training, planning, assigning work, and resolving problems in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.

Qualifications

  • Experience working in a retail environment, preferably in footwear and athletic apparel.
  • 1-3 years of customer service experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage a team to meet overall goals and profitability targets.
  • Self-starter with initiative to take on important tasks without direct supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with precision.
  • Team-player with a passion for outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.

Pay

$16.50 per hour.
