About the Role

The Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting and consulting the Store Manager regarding overall operations and administrative duties, including determining the methods and approaches necessary to accomplish the store’s goals. This role is knowledgeable in each product area or department in the store, upholds policies and procedures, and assumes supervisory control in the Store Manager’s absence.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Store Manager in controlling the assets of Hibbett | City Gear.
  • Consult with the Store Manager to establish action plans for departmental and store responsibilities such as selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
  • Assume responsibility for the entire store in the Store Manager’s absence.
  • Assist in overall personnel recruiting, training, and evaluation.
  • Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers in all departments when necessary.
  • Monitor inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability in all departments.
  • Direct staff to ensure departmental responsibilities and standards are completed.
  • Keep the Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends.
  • Maintain quality customer service.
  • Perform general administrative duties and train in Store Manager responsibilities.
  • Deliver extraordinary customer service, including assisting customers during peak periods.
  • Promote and sell services and merchandise provided by Hibbett | City Gear.
  • Uphold all Hibbett | City Gear policies, procedures, and standards as outlined in company manuals.
  • Protect company assets and financial information by ensuring accuracy of internal control procedures and reporting potential fraud risks.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervise employees in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, training, planning, assigning work, and resolving problems.

Qualifications

  • Experience working in a retail environment, preferably in footwear and athletic apparel.
  • 1-3 years of customer service experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to assist in managing a team and align with overall goals and profits.
  • Self-starter with initiative to take on important tasks without being asked.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and with precision.
  • Team-player passionate about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.

Pay

Hourly rate: $16.50 - $16.50
