About the role

You are a passionate full-time Assistant Store Manager who acts as the store leader in the absence of the Store Manager. Your primary responsibility is to inspire and motivate your team to achieve sales targets and growth goals. You are responsible for the day-to-day operations of the store, ensuring that it runs smoothly and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Coach and develop your team to foster a culture of caring and camaraderie focused on customer relationships, operational excellence, and flawless delivery of the Customer Connection.

  • Seek out and network with exceptional external talent, collaborating with the Store Manager to interview and hire individuals passionate about creating top-notch customer experiences.

  • Manage staffing levels, ensuring that the store operates efficiently and meets the needs of the business, including peak days and seasonal hiring needs.

  • Drive sales with purpose and determination, applying insights and observations to continuously improve results.

  • Support the Store Manager in assessing strengths and opportunities of the team to develop internal talent.

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma/GED.

  • At least 1 year of sales experience (retail sales preferred).

  • Experience in interviewing, hiring, and training people.

  • Ability to lead, manage, motivate, and communicate positively with store Associates at all levels.

  • Exhibits an ability to train, coach, and develop Associates to provide an engaging customer experience and execute operational tasks.

  • Exercises independent judgment and discretion, partnering with the Store Sales Manager as needed.

  • Advanced working knowledge of general retail practices and procedures.

  • Flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, including holidays, nights, weekends, and extended hours.

  • Basic computer skills.

Qualifications

  • Ability to regularly lift up to 40 lbs. utilizing appropriate equipment and safety techniques.

  • Ability to meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.

  • Ability to be mobile on the sales floor for extended periods of time.

Skills

  • Strong cognitive skills, including problem-solving, analysis, decision-making, and financial and quantitative analysis.

  • Advanced working knowledge of general retail practices and procedures.

  • Experience in interviewing, hiring, and training teams, showcasing a knack for identifying and nurturing talent.

  • Ability to mentor and train associates on both selling techniques and operational processes.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including holidays, nights, weekends, and extended hours.
