About the Role

As a full-time Assistant Store Manager, you are passionate about providing the best shoe store experience for the whole family through customer engagement. You act in the role of the store leader in the absence of the Store Manager. You are a people leader, developing your ability to motivate a team to achieve sales targets and growth goals. Through personal demonstration, training, and development, you support an in-store culture where customers are loyal to your store, our brands, and our company. You stay up to date on trends and support the education of the store team to do the same. Most importantly, you help every person who enters your store experience a little bit of that Famous Feeling.

Responsibilities

  • Inspire the Customer Connection: Foster a culture of customer relationships, operational excellence, and flawless delivery. Coach the team on selling behaviors behind our Customer Connection.
  • Champion Talent Discovery: Proactively seek and network with exceptional external talent. Collaborate with the Store Manager to interview and hire individuals passionate about customer experiences.
  • Ace Retail Operations & Support Staffing Levels: Manage daily operations including pricing, shipping, processing, and inventory. Support staffing levels considering associate availability, peak days, and seasonal hiring needs.
  • Leverage Insights to Deliver Results: Drive sales with purpose and accountability. Apply insights and observations to continually improve results in partnership with the Store Manager.
  • Be a Culture Builder: Support a diverse and inclusive work environment. Maintain a positive and proactive mindset, leading by example to uplift and support others.
  • Be the Store Manager’s Right Hand: Step into the Store Manager’s role when needed, ensuring compliance with company policies and programs. Assess team strengths and opportunities to develop internal talent.

Other responsibilities may be performed as needed to ensure the needs of the business are met.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • At least 1 year of sales experience (retail sales preferred).
  • Experience in interviewing, hiring, and training people.
  • Ability to lead, manage, motivate, and communicate positively with store associates at all levels.
  • Ability to train, coach, and develop associates to provide an engaging customer experience and execute operational tasks.
  • Strong cognitive skills, including problem-solving, decision-making, and financial/quantitative analysis.
  • Advanced working knowledge of general retail practices and procedures.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including holidays, nights, weekends, and extended hours.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to regularly lift up to 40 lbs. from floor level to above shoulder height using appropriate equipment and safety techniques.
  • Ability to meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.
  • Ability to be mobile on the sales floor for extended periods of time.
