About the role
The Assistant Store Manager at PetPeople is a key member of the team responsible for supporting all aspects of store operations. This position champions the PetPeople mission to be the neighborhood place for natural foods and quality supplies for dogs and cats, engaging customers through sharing ideas and providing solutions.
Responsibilities
- Supports the Store Manager in achieving performance objectives for the store in areas of customer engagement, driving sales, productivity, presentation, payroll, inventory, etc.
- Builds and maintains long-term customer relationships by engaging in the community and educating customers on the benefits of PetPeople's products.
- Identifies, interviews, and selects new team members, and works with the Store Manager to onboard, train, coach, develop, manage, and motivate a team of pet enthusiasts (6-8 associates).
- Maintains continuous and open communication with the Store Manager on all aspects of store operations.
- Ensures compliance with all company policies, procedures, and directives.
- Works collaboratively with the Store Manager to manage and motivate a team of pet enthusiasts (6-8 associates) in building customer relationships, sales, store operations, and merchandising.

- Ability to move merchandise up to 50 lbs. frequently.
