Assistant Store Manager

The Assistant Store Manager at O'Reilly Auto Parts supports the Store Manager in areas of sales, customer service, store appearance, and operations. Key responsibilities include leading the store team, managing customer service levels, staffing the retail sales counter, setting team member goals, providing feedback, and hiring new employees. Additionally, this role involves handling customer returns and exchanges, processing special orders, and maintaining the store environment.

Essential Job Functions

• Lead the store team in providing excellent customer service to retail and professional customers.
• Supervise customer service levels in the retail showroom, implementing customer service programs.
• Adequately staff the retail sales counter during peak business hours.
• Aid the Store Manager in setting team member goals, offering feedback, coaching, and mentoring.
• Participate in the hiring process by completing recruiting tasks, scheduling interviews, evaluating candidates, and collaborating with management.
• Ensure the telephone is answered according to company policy.
• Process buy online/ship to store, hub and store to store transfers, and DC add orders promptly.
• Contact customers upon shipment arrivals as needed.
• Utilize the electronic outside purchase order ledger to handle special orders and outside purchases efficiently.
• Handle retail customer returns and exchanges efficiently, issuing refunds accurately, and processing returned merchandise correctly.
• Invoice all merchandise, including core charges and warranties.
• Communicate Zipline messages, delegate Image Maker and merchandising tasks, and ensure compliance with company policies.
• Perform store opening/closing duties, including day end procedures, money verification, deposit preparation, security checks, and vehicle locking.
• Maintain the store building, parking lot, exterior signage, computer hardware, in-store service/test equipment, and delivery vehicles.

• Sales Specialist Training
• Assistant Manager Certification
• RSS Certification
• Certified Parts Professional Certification (Desired)
• ASE Certification (Desired)
• Fluency in multiple languages (Spanish is highly desired)
