Assistant Store Manager
The Assistant Store Manager at O'Reilly Auto Parts is responsible for supporting the Store Manager in various aspects of the store's operations. Key responsibilities include leading customer service efforts, supervising team members, managing the store during the Store Manager's absence, and assisting in the hiring process.
Essential Job Functions
- Lead the store team members in providing excellent customer service to retail and professional customers.
- Supervise the customer service levels on the retail showroom to include team member execution on customer service programs (such as Related sales, Hi5, Rock the Call, Never Say No, Rock the Lot, etc…).
- Work with the store manager to ensure the retail sales counter is adequately staffed, especially during peak business hours.
- Aid the store manager in setting team member goals, providing feedback on goal achievement, coaching/mentoring team members, and ensuring they stay current on their individual training.
- Support the hiring process by completing recruiting tasks, scheduling and participating in interviews, evaluating candidates, and collaborating with management to ensure the selection of qualified team members.
- Ensure the telephone is answered according to company policy.
- Ensure all buy online/ship to store, hub and store to store transfers, and DC add orders are processed in a timely manner and customers are contacted upon shipment arrivals as needed.
- Utilize the electronic outside purchase order ledger to handle special orders and outside purchases efficiently and according to procedure.
- Ensure retail customer returns and exchanges are processed in an efficient and friendly manner, refunds are issued accurately using the correct payment methods, and returned merchandise is processed or staged in the returns area correctly.
- Ensure all merchandise, including core charges and warranties, are invoiced before product leaves the store.
- Communicate Zipline messages, delegate and complete Image Maker and merchandising tasks as assigned.
- Ensure all team members are complying with company policies specifically; adhering to the posted work schedule, changes/deviations are being approved by a member of management, and team members are clocking in/out accordingly.
- Perform all store opening/closing duties, including performing day end procedures, verifying/securing money/deposits according to company policy, preparing bank deposits as needed, ensuring all night security lights are on, locking doors and securing building, arming/disarming security alarms, and checking/securing/locking delivery vehicle(s) parked in a secure designated area.
- Maintain the store building, parking lot, exterior signage/lighting, computer hardware, in-store service/test equipment, and delivery vehicles.
Skills/Education/Knowledge/Experience/Abilities
- Sales Specialist Training
- Assistant Manager Certification and RSS Certification
- Certified Parts Professional Certification; ASE Certification
- Fluency in multiple languages (Spanish is highly desired)
