Assistant Store Manager
The Assistant Store Manager at O'Reilly Auto Parts is responsible for supporting the Store Manager in various aspects of the store, including sales, customer service, and store operations. This position also involves managing the store during the Store Manager's absence and overseeing the team during opposing shifts.
Essential Job Functions
- Lead the store team in providing excellent customer service to both retail and professional customers.
- Supervise the customer service levels in the retail showroom, ensuring adherence to customer service programs such as Related sales, Hi5, Rock the Call, Never Say No, Rock the Lot, etc.
- Work with the store manager to ensure adequate staffing at the retail sales counter, particularly during peak times like lunch, late-afternoons, evenings, weekends, etc.
- Aid the store manager in setting team member goals, providing feedback, coaching, and mentoring team members, and ensuring they stay current on their training.
- Participate in the hiring process by completing recruiting tasks, scheduling interviews, evaluating candidates, and collaborating with management to select qualified team members.
- Ensure the telephone is answered according to company policy, process buy online/ship to store, hub and store to store transfers, and DC add orders in a timely manner, and contact customers upon shipment arrivals as needed.
- Utilize the electronic outside purchase order ledger to handle special orders and outside purchases efficiently and according to procedure.
- Process retail customer returns and exchanges efficiently and courteously, issue refunds accurately using the correct payment methods, and stage returned merchandise correctly.
- Invoice all merchandise, including core charges and warranties, before products leave the store.
- Communicate Zipline messages, delegate and complete Image Maker and merchandising tasks as assigned.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, including adhering to the posted work schedule, approving changes or deviations with management, and ensuring team members clock in/out correctly.
- Perform all store opening/closing duties, including day-end procedures, verifying/securing money/deposits, preparing bank deposits, ensuring all night security lights are on, locking doors and securing the building, arming/disarming security alarms, and checking/securing/locking delivery vehicles.
- Maintain the store building, parking lot, exterior signage/lighting, computer hardware, in-store service/test equipment, and delivery vehicles.
Skills/Education/Knowledge/Experience/Abilities
- Sales Specialist Training
- Assistant Manager Certification
- RSS Certification
- Certified Parts Professional Certification (Desired)
- ASE Certification (Desired)
- Fluency in multiple languages, with Spanish highly desired
Additional compensation includes annual, quarterly performance, or premium payments, which may vary based on factors such as schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. The pay range is $15.16 - $22.00 per hour, with the actual hourly rate equaling or exceeding the required minimum wage applicable to the job location.
