The Assistant Store Manager at O'Reilly Auto Parts supports the Store Manager in areas of sales, customer service, store appearance, and operations. Key responsibilities include leading the store team, managing customer service levels, staffing the retail sales counter, setting team member goals, providing feedback, coaching, and mentoring. The position also involves assisting with the hiring process, ensuring proper communication of Zipline messages, delegating and completing Image Maker and merchandising tasks, and performing store opening/closing duties.

Essential Job Functions

  • Lead the store team in providing excellent customer service to retail and professional customers.
  • Supervise customer service levels on the retail showroom, including execution of customer service programs.
  • Work with the store manager to ensure adequate staffing of the retail sales counter, particularly during peak business hours.
  • Aid in setting team member goals, providing feedback, coaching, and mentoring team members.
  • Assist in the hiring process by completing recruiting tasks, scheduling interviews, evaluating candidates, and collaborating with management.
  • Ensure the telephone is answered according to company policy.
  • Process buy online/ship to store, hub and store to store transfers, and DC add orders in a timely manner, contacting customers upon shipment arrivals as needed.
  • Utilize the electronic outside purchase order ledger to handle special orders and outside purchases efficiently and according to procedure.
  • Handle retail customer returns and exchanges efficiently, issuing accurate refunds using the correct payment methods, and processing or staging returned merchandise correctly.
  • Invoice all merchandise, including core charges and warranties, before product leaves the store.
  • Communicate all team members' compliance with company policies, such as adherence to the posted work schedule, approval of changes/deviations by management, and proper clocking in/out.
  • Maintain the store building, parking lot, exterior signage/lighting, computer hardware, in-store service/test equipment, and delivery vehicles.
  • Perform all store opening/closing duties, including day end procedures, verifying/securing money/deposits, preparing bank deposits, ensuring security measures are in place, and completing other duties as assigned.

Skills/Education/Knowledge/Experience/Abilities

  • Sales Specialist Training
  • Assistant Manager Certification
  • RSS Certification
  • Certified Parts Professional Certification (desired)
  • ASE Certification (desired)
  • Fluency in multiple languages (Spanish is highly desired)
