About the role
The Assistant Manager is a key position within the retail team, responsible for supporting the Store Manager in achieving all Company goals and initiatives. This includes driving sales, developing talent, and delivering execution. The role requires strong leadership, excellent customer service, and the ability to represent the brand effectively.
Responsibilities
- Serves as the Manager on Duty, performing responsibilities of the Store Manager when the Store Manager is away from the store.
- Exhibits the interest and the ability to become a Store Manager.
- Works alongside employees at all levels, driving and maintaining high standards by serving as a positive role model to ensure the integrity of the brand.
- Affords assistance and coaching in training Sales Associates while on the sales floor and monitors compliance for all company standard operating procedures.
- Maintains an environment of open communication and teamwork.
- Manages rest and meal break schedules and ensures that all zones are covered.
- Fosters a positive work environment and provides direct, honest feedback in a timely manner.
- Affords assistance to the Store Manager with managing company standards of merchandise presentations, signage, and displays.
- Escalates performance concerns to the Store Manager.
- Motivates and inspires the associates to build brand loyalty and create a positive store environment for both internal and external customers.
- Affords assistance in directing the planning and execution of floor sets in an efficient manner while following Company guidelines and encouraging collaboration of ideas amongst team members.
- Cultivates an environment of open communication and teamwork.
- Represents the company in a professional and positive manner.
- Inspires and motivates the entire team by sharing knowledge and best practices for sales, merchandising, stocking, and inventory processes.
Qualifications
- At least 2 years of manager experience in a specialty retail store with relevant traffic and volume preferred.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, & PowerPoint, and ability to adapt to additional software programs.
- Broad knowledge and perspective of retail landscape.
- Must be available to work weekends (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday).
- Must commit to two store closings per week, including one being Friday or Saturday.
- Ability to utilize retail POS System & Inventory Scanner.
- Ability to make change using American Monetary units.
- Ability to understand and interpret moderately complex financial reports.
- High School Diploma required or General Education Degree (GED).
- Ability to carry out detailed tasks and projects with minimal direction or supervision.
- This position requires the ability to problem solve complex situations in an effective and efficient manner including dealing with difficult and/or troubled clients.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build positive working relationships.
- Ability to express ideas clearly and succinctly via email, memos, and reports.
