About the role

The Assistant Manager supports the Store Manager in achieving all Company goals and initiatives through driving sales, developing talent, and delivering execution. This role represents the brand, operates professionally, demonstrates exceptional customer service, and drives a consistent message to all team members.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the Manager on Duty, performing responsibilities of the Store Manager when they are away from the store
  • Exhibits the interest and ability to become a Store Manager
  • Works alongside employees at all levels, driving and maintaining high standards by serving as a positive role model to ensure brand integrity
  • Assists and coaches in training Sales Associates on the sales floor and monitors compliance with company standard operating procedures; cultivates an environment of open communication and teamwork
  • Manages rest and meal break schedules, ensuring all zones are covered
  • Fosters a positive work environment and provides direct, honest feedback in a timely manner
  • Assists the Store Manager with managing company standards for merchandise presentations, signage, and displays
  • Escalates performance concerns to the Store Manager
  • Motivates and inspires associates to build brand loyalty and create a positive store environment for internal and external customers
  • Assists with store security, including checking bags and monitoring fitting rooms
  • Guarantees company assets by ensuring adherence to all Loss Prevention procedures
  • Ensures store staff are treated professionally, courteously, and respectfully
  • Assists in directing the planning and execution of floor sets efficiently while following Company guidelines and encouraging team collaboration
  • Adheres to and ensures compliance with all Loss Prevention policies
  • Has full understanding and knowledge of inventory management procedures
  • Cultivates an environment of open communication and teamwork
  • Represents the company in a professional and positive manner
  • Inspires and motivates the entire team by sharing knowledge and best practices for sales, merchandising, stocking, and inventory processes
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of manager experience in a specialty retail store with relevant traffic and volume preferred
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the ability to adapt to additional software programs
  • Broad knowledge and perspective of the retail landscape
  • Must be available to work weekends (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday)
  • Must commit to two store closings per week, including one being Friday or Saturday
  • Ability to utilize retail POS systems and inventory scanners
  • Ability to make change using American monetary units
  • Ability to understand and interpret moderately complex financial reports
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required
  • Ability to carry out detailed tasks and projects with minimal direction or supervision
  • Ability to problem-solve complex situations effectively, including dealing with difficult or troubled clients
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build positive working relationships
  • Ability to express ideas clearly and succinctly via email, memos, and reports

Work Environment

  • Requires ability to lift large and heavy packages and boxes rapidly and constantly, and to perform continuous loading and unloading of large boxes throughout a scheduled shift
  • Able to reach overhead, bend, kneel, and carry product necessary for customer service, inventory restock, processing shipments, and store merchandising
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to safely lift 50 lbs. without restrictions
  • Able to regularly perform store maintenance tasks such as sweeping, vacuuming, emptying trash, and cleaning
  • Ability to use and climb ladders and/or step stools
  • Requires ability to perform repetitive motions (e.g., hanging, folding, ringing up customers)
  • Ability to use caution when dealing with difficult customers, houseless individuals, and/or transients, and avoid confrontations
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud
  • Adult content environment
  • Must be at least 18 years old
