Assistant Store Manager

Job Summary

The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager by working to enhance both business performance and customer satisfaction, always following Hollywood Feed’s first policy: “Do what is right by the customer.”

Responsibilities

• Oversee team members, facilitate effective communication with customers, assist as needed, and implement instructions issued by the Store Manager.
• Manage and direct the daily tasks and responsibilities of team members.
• Conduct or assist with timely and constructive performance evaluations upon the request of the Store Manager.
• Support the Store Manager in employment‑related matters, including administering disciplinary actions and terminations, in alignment with company policies.
• Responsible for closing the store three nights per week.
• Attend Assistant Store Manager meetings in person.
• Safely operate company vehicles and deliver Same Day Delivery orders in accordance with Hollywood Feed policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Inventory Management: ensure orders are processed and received accurately through the point‑of‑sale system, conduct research and track purchases, check out customer purchases, create new customer accounts, open and close registers.
• Perform other inventory duties including physical inventory and cycle counts; required to perform six of the twelve cycle counts to determine inventory accuracy.
• Place and rotate merchandise to attract positive attention from customers and achieve related results.
• Maintain inventory data through spot inventory counts and checks to ensure availability of merchandise and services.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Commitment to animals and their owners.
• Strong verbal communication and active listening skills.
• Proven sales and customer service abilities.
• Knowledge of store products or ability to learn quickly.
• Ability to operate or learn the point‑of‑sale system.
• Valid driver’s license with at least two years’ driving experience (including learner’s permit period).
• Utilize company‑approved biometric authentication systems and safely operate company equipment incorporating biometric, video, audio, and other safety technologies.

Physical Requirements

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Able to lift 50 lb overhead and stock shelves repeatedly.
• Can bend, kneel, push, pull, reach, twist frequently.
• Able to stand and walk for 8–10 hours.
• Can climb ladders often to access products.
• Meet Safe Driving Policy and be willing to drive a company delivery vehicle.

Education & Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Pay

Competitive hourly wage ranging from $19.61 to $23.00.

Schedule

Minimum of 40 hours per week; required to close the store three nights per week and attend in‑person Assistant Store Manager meetings.
