Assistant Store Manager

Job Summary

Aids in the daily operations of a Goodwill Retail store with sales ranging from $1,000,000 to $1,999,999. Assumes full responsibility for store operations in the absence of the Store Manager.

Communication

• Receives donations, issues donation receipts, and assists donors to ensure a positive experience.
• Maintains positive relationships among store departments through clear and consistent communication.

Knowledge

• Interviews and hires new store personnel.
• Trains store personnel on store policies, job duties, and Agency policies and procedures.
• Maintains store premises to ensure security and compliance with safety and environmental codes.
• Performs operational duties as needed (register, donation area, production, merchandising, customer service).

Administration

• Analyzes store merchandising needs.
• Sets and achieves production goals to maintain adequate inventory levels.
• Maintains store records including cash, sales, and deposit reports, expense reports, payroll sheets, and other required documents.
• Closes registers, cashes out, totals funds, endorses checks, and prepares bank deposit slips.
• Deposits funds at a bank.

Supervision

• Assists the Store Manager with all general store operations.
• Supervises and coordinates activities of store personnel.
• Schedules break periods, work hours, and vacations.
• Ensures adherence to store opening/closing procedures and locks all store premises.
• Participates in performance management, including disciplinary actions, staff assignments, and year-end reviews.

Requirements

• Criminal Background Check meeting agency standards.
• Minimum of two (2) years previous retail experience.
• Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience, preferably in a retail setting.
• The ability to: sit, stand, bend, reach, and lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
