About the role
The Assistant Store Manager supports the day-to-day operations and management of the Donated Goods Program (DGP) store and donation area. The role involves managing store associates, ensuring efficient operations, and adhering to GWH policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Manage all day-to-day store operations, including opening/closing, and supervision of store associates.
- Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate associates, and develop them within the context of GWH policies and procedures.
- Maintain open availability to assist with store management and leadership needs.
- Ensure completion of daily management duties as per GWH’s leadership team.
- Manage and influence the team by setting clear company goals and collaborating with the store manager.
- Partner with the store manager to create, prepare, and post schedules, review/approve electronic time sheets, and monitor labor hours.
- Accurately and efficiently complete all sales transactions and maintain proper cash accountability.
- Execute GWH’s workflow by training, coaching, and documenting associate performances.
- Prepare and administer personnel and disciplinary actions.
- Ensure store supplies and bank orders are placed in a timely manner.
- Supervise and assist with the training and development of associates.
- Coach associates by walking around for approximately 80% of the time on duty.
- Accurately operate all store systems and ensure financial and statistical counts are completed.
- Perform other duties as directed by management to support evolving organizational needs.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a diploma.
- Management experience is preferred.
- A minimum of two (2) years of retail sales experience is preferred.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Good computer skills (proficiency in Microsoft Office).
- Good time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate and interact well with a variety of personality types.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, including holidays, evenings, overnight, and weekend shifts.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship for current or future employment.
