Assistant Store Manager

About the role
As an Assistant Store Manager, you will assist the Store Manager in developing, leading, and motivating a team to deliver an exceptional customer experience that supports building brand loyalty and achieving financial targets. You will operate as the Manager on Duty as assigned and represent Curaleaf as a brand ambassador by providing top-notch customer service and educating guests on our products. This is a full-time position requiring open availability on weekdays, evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional overnights.
Responsibilities
- Proactively communicate with Store Manager, District Manager, and cross-functional partners to maximize revenue opportunities.
- Model and lead selling behaviors aligned with our brand culture to build loyal customer relationships and deliver on key financial targets.
- Monitor and analyze customer service provided by team members, offering feedback and coaching.
- Share customer service best practices to deliver a distinctive and delightful guest experience, including interpersonal habits and Curaleaf service traits.
- Supervise store operations and team members, including opening/closing shifts, task delegation, and scheduling.
- Oversee store finances, including register counts, bank withdrawals, armored car pickups, safe deposits, change orders, and bookkeeping (ledger, invoices, cash reports, and time records).
- Analyze inventory trends and supervise inventory management, including ordering items, stocking, and leveraging company resources to avoid shortages and overstock.
- Maintain knowledge of all computer and technology systems and software (e.g., registers, LeafLogix).
- Comply with all company policies and procedures; maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.
- Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned, including assisting team members as needed.
- Travel to other locations for training and/or coverage (10%–25%).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of retail and/or customer service experience in a high-paced selling environment.
- Minimum of 1 year of retail supervisory experience.
- Strong business acumen and understanding of financial targets and key performance indicators.
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including extended days, evenings, and weekend hours.
- Previous experience working in a heavily regulated industry.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to build and manage teams.
- Strong salesmanship skills and experience driving revenue.
- Attention to detail in cash handling and POS operations.
- Demonstrated desire for continued learning and ability to share information effectively.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative in the absence of the Store Manager.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in the cannabis industry.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, hear, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; use hands and fingers to feel; and reach with hands and arms.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Close vision required (clear vision at 20 inches or less).
- Potential exposure to dust, pollen, plant pathogens, and allergens.
- Ability to work in confined spaces, tolerate high stress, and adapt to an ever-changing environment.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional retail environment, routinely using standard office equipment such as computers, POS systems, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

Pay
Illinois Hiring Range: $55,000—$61,000 USD
