Responsibilities

• Carry out management responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, training and developing partners; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining partners; and scheduling, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
• Ensure effective training of partners within the departments under their supervision.
• Review historical data to predict future sales from ads and promotions. Manage inventory using item management processes to ensure satisfactory in-stock levels.
• Review profit and loss, sales, shrink, and labor data; provide verbal or written summary to upper management regarding any related issues.
• Responsible for maintaining and improving sales performance, cash flow, public relations, product quality, and work standards.
• Frequently required to open/close the store. Ensure the store is presentable for the customer shopping experience; make certain adequate staff is available; ensure safety, responsiveness, and fiscal management of cash and monetary assets.
• Oversee asset protection processes, including alarm system management, key control, and merchandise protection.
• Lead the execution of core safety processes, including monthly self-inspections, safety team meetings, detailed incident reporting, and management of safety supplies.
• Enforce quality control and food safety standards throughout multiple departments and ensure dated products are stocked and rotated properly.
• Conduct store inspections and take appropriate action to ensure store conditions adhere to Company standards.
• Oversee pricing and direct store delivery (DSD) duties, including price verifications and signage accuracy, backroom organization, and backdoor security.
• Review planograms and execute effective merchandising plans to increase sales through displays, store layouts, and category management promotions.
• Develop and implement initiatives and strategies for loss prevention and shrink reduction.
• Plan short-term strategic objectives aligned with supporting banner strategies, anticipate problems, and revise plans to account for changing circumstances.
• Assist in the direction of store operations and management of operating expenses to maximize cash flow, EBITDA, sales, gross margin, and net profit.
• Maintain clean, safe, and sanitary working and shopping environment by adhering to Company safety procedures.
• Display exemplary customer service and act as a role model for partners; enforce customer engagement standards by greeting customers, answering questions, and responding to customer complaints.
• Check inventory on trucks, unload products, and ensure accuracy of inventory, product ordering, and associated paperwork.

Skills

• Advanced knowledge of retail grocery store operations.
• Intermediate understanding of Company checkout policies and procedures.
• Intermediate knowledge and compliance of state laws regarding the sale of alcohol, tobacco, and lottery, as applicable.
• Intermediate knowledge of anti-money laundering and other government regulations relating to monetary transactions.
• Intermediate knowledge of cash register.
• Intermediate knowledge of on-site fuel station procedures, if applicable.

• Must report any potential hazards that cannot be immediately remedied to a supervisor.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years of age required.
• Partners must be 21 years of age or older to drive for Company business in accordance with the BGC Business Driver Policy.
• Associates Degree in related field and two or more years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and/or higher education required.
• Must obtain Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) certification through Company LEARN/LMS program within 2 weeks of starting in role.
• Must obtain Tobacco/Alcohol certification (TABC/LACT/AATC/ABLE) through Company LEARN/LMS program within 2 weeks of starting in role where applicable.
• Must obtain Manager Food Safety certification through Company LEARN/LMS program within 2 weeks of starting in role.
• Must obtain Anti-Money Laundering (AML) certification through Company LEARN/LMS program within 2 weeks of starting in role.
