About the role

The State Attorney’s Office for the First Judicial Circuit of Florida seeks Assistant State Attorneys to prosecute crimes in Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, and Walton counties.

Responsibilities

- Preparation of criminal cases for prosecution requiring legal research, depositions, and interviewing witnesses/victims and other parties to ascertain facts. - Conducting trial work, including preparation and summation of detailed case work for presentation of cases in jury and non-jury trials. - Examining and cross-examining witnesses, defendants, and victims.

Requirements

- Florida Bar membership in good standing. - Demonstrated interest in litigation and/or criminal law through course work and internships. - Lateral hires with prosecutorial experience.

Qualifications

- Strong interest in courtroom litigation. - Excellent communication and critical thinking skills. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Skills

- Legal research and analysis. - Effective communication and witness interviewing. - Trial preparation and presentation.

Pay
