Responsibilities
- Compiles and analyzes financial information for entry into general ledger and reporting in the financial statements.
- Tracks unclaimed property Microsoft office inbox and ensures mail is addressed timely, tracked and saved.
- Create check requests with related and relevant support and route for approval.
- Communicate with external practitioners and members to follow up with any related questions via email or telephone.
- Prepare due diligence letters, as needed, including sending to the mailroom, scanning and saving electronically.
- Prepare state unclaimed property reporting and remittance including all relevant supporting documentation.
- Maintain records of annual unclaimed property and work closely with SOVOS our outsourced vendor for reporting and due diligence.
- Apply principles of accounting and maintain the financial records in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, Company policies, and internal controls.
- Adhere to corporate policy with respect to HIPAA and PHI.
- Meet departmental performance standards and timelines.
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
- Absorb account analyses and reconcile all assigned balance sheet accounts monthly.
- Prepare journal entries and post to the financial system.
- Aid in preparing 6-month trended income statement and balance sheets and analyze variances that exceed scope and provide explanations of variances to management.
- Absorb expense accounts on a monthly basis for reasonableness, make proposals for corrections and additional accruals, where necessary.
- Support General Ledger Team in preparing ad hoc reports and reconciliations.
- Participate in annual financial audits, regulatory audits, and ad hoc health plan audits.
- Aid in performing and reporting on financial statement analyses.
- Absorb organizational projects as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, or a Bachelor's degree with a concentration or minor in accounting required.
- Entry-level experience in accounting industry preferred.
- Experience using X3 and Sage required.
- Proficient in MS Office including advanced experience with Excel and Word.
- Entry-level position – Requires good fundamental knowledge of accounting, general ledger, and financial statements.
- Good analytical, quantitative, problem-solving, and technical skills.
- Ability to comprehend, evaluate, and apply government regulations and accounting guidelines.
