About the Role
Works with the Site Manager to ensure meaningful community-related opportunities for volunteers and to maintain all required documentation. Transports volunteers to and from program sites, volunteer job locations, and other community outreach activities.
Responsibilities
- Ensure safety of program volunteers while at the program site and during community-based activities.
- Train program volunteers to perform functional, meaningful, and/or volunteer job tasks to the best of their abilities and to interact appropriately with peers and community members.
- Assume responsibility for overseeing the overall functioning of the site in the absence of the Site Manager, including supervising Direct Support Professionals (DSPs).
- Work with the Site Manager to schedule all program activities and volunteer opportunities.
- Maintain accurate written records as needed.
- Assist the Site Manager in communicating with parents, correspondents, advocates, and Medicaid Service Coordinators (MSCs) regarding volunteer progress, problems, and pertinent information.
- Act as a liaison between voluntary job site staff and program volunteers.
- Report volunteer success, satisfaction, problems, or concerns encountered during daily activities to the Site Manager.
- Ensure the protection of volunteers from neglect or abuse during program hours and report incidents to administration promptly.
- Promote and reinforce all agency philosophies, including guiding principles.
- Complete and maintain all mandated trainings and certifications as determined by program needs.
- Perform additional duties as requested by the supervisor.
- Complete Personal Outcome Measures training prior to evaluations and assessments.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Valid NYS Driver’s license; must be and remain a Qualified driver.
- Minimum 6 months of experience working with people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities (1 year preferred).
Preferred Qualifications
- AMAP, First Aid, CPR, and SCIP-R training.
