Assistant Shift Supervisor - Richfield

MGS has an exciting opportunity for a Shift Supervisor Assistant to join our MGS Richfield Manufacturing team. This role operates on a 12-hour day or night shift following a 2-2-3 rotation schedule, with initial training on an 8-hour day shift before transitioning.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule Operators to specific jobs and pack out areas based on the production schedule, ensuring coverage during operator breaks and reallocating operators as needed.
  • Ensure employees are ready to begin work on time at the start of the shift and during break times.
  • Verify and monitor the shift to ensure Operators understand their responsibilities and follow QMS requirements to meet quality standards.
  • Mentor and develop direct labor positions, ensuring training effectiveness and supporting Operator Onboarding.
  • Verify training needs are completed for the direct labor team and assist the Shift Supervisor with any training requirements.
  • Observe, communicate, and enforce Company policies, procedures, and safety regulations, ensuring safety remains the team's top priority.
  • Hold the direct labor team accountable to job requirements and expectations, addressing issues and partnering with the Shift Supervisor and Human Resources on Performance Incident Reports.
  • Complete annual Performance Evaluations for the direct labor team alongside the Shift Supervisor and participate in one-on-one Performance Evaluation meetings.
  • Accurately complete time and attendance activities for the assigned team and coordinate with the Shift Supervisor to resolve any issues.
  • Manage time off requests to ensure adequate staffing while staying within the allowed number of employees off at one time.
  • Complete the required Leader Standard Work (LSW) each scheduled workday.
  • Conduct audit walks to confirm the production floor is operating safely and to standards, completing any assigned action items.
  • Participate in Pre-Shift Huddles and lead them when required.
  • Utilize IQMS and relevant modules to monitor production and ensure work processes are completed accurately and effectively.
  • Oversee and assist, as needed, with Work Order Changes.
  • Assist the Shift Supervisor with reports relating to LSW and coaching.
  • Communicate with shift employees to help them meet company expectations and implement continuous improvement activities.
  • Assist with investigating the root cause of non-conforming parts and develop action plans.
  • Support handling of Significant Events, such as:
    • A mold/tool being idle for more than 15 minutes unassigned.
    • A quality issue requiring an NCMR/MRB.
    • A mold/tool issue during production requiring removal from the press.
    • An equipment issue causing parts to not meet specification.
  • Promote team building by interacting with every member of the shift.
  • Handle conflict professionally and productively.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Fill in for the Shift Supervisor during approved time off.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
  • Completion or enrollment in an accredited two-year technical college program or a four-year university program in a related field of study is preferred.
  • One to three years of related experience and/or training, or accrued on-the-job training and experience.
  • Manufacturing experience is a plus.
  • Experience with computer programs such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and IQMS.
  • Demonstrated people management experience is a plus.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in operating and maintaining machinery, with full responsibility for output quality, efficiency, and adherence to production goals.
  • Understanding of molding defects is a plus.
  • Ability to read and understand production reports.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and proven track record of dependability.
