Assistant Senior Program Manager
About the Role
The Assistant Senior Manager is an integral position at Arundel Lodge that shapes the culture and quality of life for the senior persons served. While day-to-day responsibilities include transportation, money management, diet coaching, shopping, cleaning, assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), and teaching life skills, the most critical function is assisting individuals in their recovery journey from mental illness, physical illness, and substance abuse.
Assistant Managers are expected to practice the Recovery Model in all interactions, emphasizing hope, personal responsibility, peer support, respect, empathy, non-stigmatizing language, empowerment, strengths-based approaches, and self-determination. Arundel Lodge provides initial and ongoing training and evaluates Assistant Managers on their application of the Recovery Model.
Responsibilities
- Maintain familiarity with pertinent information for all individuals on assigned caseload, including diagnosis, psychiatric and somatic history, treatment plans, medications, and needs.
- Identify and assist persons served in pursuing individual goals:
- Complete Person-Centered Planning Functional Self-Assessment thoroughly, timely, and professionally.
- Participate in the development of a treatment plan (IRP) for each individual on the assigned caseload.
- Assess persons served stage of change on an ongoing basis and apply stage-appropriate interventions.
- Perform all responsibilities outlined in the Rehabilitation Specialist job description for assigned caseloads and/or shifts.
- During the Program Manager’s absence:
- Ensure all work shifts are covered.
- Maintain 24-hour emergency phone coverage.
- Direct team activities.
- Review time sheets for accuracy, including hours worked, time off, overtime approval, and correct calculations.
- Conduct scheduled team meetings and distribute minutes.
- Oversee general staff functions and provide necessary support.
- Oversee the condition of residences:
- Coordinate operational requests.
- Report unsafe or unfit conditions.
- Coordinate persons served somatic and psychiatric needs with Rehab Specialists, Day Program Counselors, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Primary Care Providers, pharmacy, and, when appropriate, the person served.
- Medication Monitoring:
- Follow established protocols and procedures as defined in medication monitoring credentialing.
- Complete initial and re-credentialing processes.
- Pay close attention to detail in following medication monitoring procedures and proactively communicate pertinent issues to the nurse and program manager.
- Inspect persons served residential medication supply as agreed upon by the team.
- Assist with new persons served move-ins:
- Attend referral, discharge, and admission meetings.
- Ensure preparation of the residence.
- Coordinate receipt of the move-in kit.
- Crisis Intervention:
- Identify early warning signs of psychiatric and physical decompensation and take appropriate action.
- Diffuse and address behavioral and/or psychiatric crises to ensure safety.
- Distinguish between stressors and exacerbation of mental illness.
- Identify and promote the use of various coping mechanisms.
- Assume other duties, responsibilities, and special projects as assigned.
- Work with little direct supervision and complete tasks amid frequent interruptions.
- Maintain proficient computer skills and use professional language in written and verbal communication.
- Communicate essential information with the work team and contribute positively to the team.
- Practice recovery model interventions in daily interactions.

Requirements
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Be fully aware of environmental stimuli and interact respectfully with people of diverse cultures.
- Maintain agency-acceptable drug testing, TB testing, and criminal background checks.
