About the role
The Associate Scientist/Engineer supports studies to establish oral solid formulations by executing laboratory and pilot-plant work, designing experimental formulation studies, and conducting material characterization and formulation testing.
Responsibilities
- Conduct development activities related to developing oral formulations.
- Design and optimize formulations using a design-of-experience approach.
- Conduct material characterization and formulation testing.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or a related discipline (advanced degree preferred).
- 0–3 years of relevant work experience.
- Experience in oral formulation preparation and testing techniques, including HPLC and dissolution.
- Experience conducting material characterization (DSC and TGA preferred).
- Pilot-scale batch manufacture with common oral development technologies.
- General material characterization experience.
- Previous experience in formulation development or spray-dried dispersion is preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
Skills
- Knowledge of formulation development.
- Knowledge of data trending and tracking; use of statistical analysis software is a plus.
- Advanced problem-solving ability, technical adeptness, and logical thinking.
- Ability to communicate honestly, transparently, and effectively with peers, department management, and cross-functional teams.
Working Conditions
- 10%–20% of time in an office environment.
- 80%–90% of time in a manufacturing and/or laboratory setting.
- May travel between NJ sites (Summit and New Brunswick) to access different laboratories and equipment for experiment execution.
- Handles hazardous materials; no exposure to blood or animals.
Pay
Starting hourly compensation for this assignment is $28–$35.56/hr. Final individual compensation and any applicable benefits will be determined by the employer of record based on demonstrated experience, required skill, and geographic location.
