Assistant School Business Administrator/Assistant Board Secretary

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• A minimum of three years’ experience in public school business operations, with specific experience in fund accounting and payroll operations
• Must hold or immediately be eligible for the New Jersey School Business Administrator certification
• Knowledge of Federal/State tax and pension laws/regulations, GAAP, and New Jersey school law/regulations and its application to financial matters
• Experience with computer applications in payroll and fund accounting; demonstration of strong PC computer and spreadsheet skills

Responsibilities

• Monthly payroll activities and extra compensation payrolls
• Pension-related forms and documents on behalf of employees
• Annual Wage and Tax Statements
• Submit all federal and state tax reports and payments
• Preparation for the annual audit, as needed
• Monitoring the status of cash flow, budget accounts, and bank/budget transactions with the Business Administrator when necessary
• Prepare and submit payments of state unemployment, monitor unemployment trust fund, and recommend budget transfers to/from the unemployment trust fund to the Business Administrator when necessary
• Monthly generation of the School District Treasurer's Report
• Other related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Business Administrator/Board Secretary
