About the role
The Assistant School Business Administrator is responsible for supporting the School Business Administrator in managing the financial and administrative aspects of the school district.
Responsibilities
- Supports the School Business Administrator in preparing and maintaining accurate financial records and reports.
- Ensures compliance with state and federal laws and regulations related to school districts.
- Manages the budget preparation process, including forecasting and monitoring expenditures.
- Oversees procurement processes and ensures adherence to policies and procedures.
- Coordinates with various departments to ensure efficient operation and effective resource allocation.
- Prepares and reviews Board Secretary Reports as required.
- Collaborates with external auditors to ensure compliance with auditing standards.
- Provides support in grant management and coordination with external funding sources.
Requirements
- Possess a School Business Administrator’s Certificate.
- Understanding of financial accounting and reporting procedures consistent with statute, code, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Knowledge of accepted business practices, laws, and regulations governing school districts related to budget preparation, risk management, purchasing, transportation, food services, school plant operations, and facility planning.
- Demonstrated organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with school-based budgeting and accounting programs.
- Knowledge of State of New Jersey school district auditing procedures.
- Knowledge of public school administration regarding grants.
Qualifications
- Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
- Current residency in New Jersey, approved residency waiver, or agreement to obtain residency within one year of employment.
- Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Pay
Minimum Salary: $125,000.00 annually; salary commensurate with experience.
