The Assistant Restaurant Leader supports the Restaurant Leader in day-to-day operations, upholding Raising Cane’s standards and culture. The role involves working in a fast-paced kitchen environment with extended periods of physical exertion (walking, standing, lifting, bending) and interacting with customers. It includes both inside and outside work in varied temperatures, handling food products, allergens, industrial equipment, and commercial cleaning products requiring personal protective equipment.
Responsibilities
- Hires and terminates all hourly, non-management crewmembers.
- Owns the onboarding, status change, and payroll process for all hourly crewmembers.
- Creates crewmember work and training schedules.
- Manages the performance of all hourly crewmembers (development, coaching, redirective communication, documentation, and other performance management tasks).
- Acts as manager on duty and opens/closes the restaurant.
- Manages cash handling and ensures accountability.
- Enforces Raising Cane’s policies and standards.
- Executes shift management, meeting Raising Cane’s operations and safety standards.
- Uses required tools, forms, and logs to support shift execution, document results, and take corrective action.
- Deploys crewmembers during shifts and provides exemplary customer service.
- Utilizes reward and recognition programs for crewmembers.
- Authorizes employee functions requiring manager approval (e.g., discounts, promotions, timeclock overrides).
- Ensures cleanliness of the restaurant and facility maintenance.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple changing priorities.
- Self-driven, flexible, and highly energetic with strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Able to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
- Skilled in problem-solving, goal-setting, and converting plans into action.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and adaptable to new systems.
- Able to work varied shifts (days, evenings, weekends) and travel for work-related functions/training.
- 3+ years of restaurant or retail management experience.
- New restaurant opening experience preferred.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred.
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
