About the role
The University of Georgia’s Center for Applied Isotope Studies (CAIS) seeks an Analytical Chemist at the rank of Assistant Research Scientist to support the Lab for Environmental Analysis.
Responsibilities
- Conduct chemical analyses
- Develop and validate analytical methods
- Manage client projects
- Supervise students
- Contribute to laboratory operations, budgeting, and service development
- Sample preparation
- Data analysis
- Report preparation
- Client communication
- Maintain advanced chromatographic and mass spectrometric instrumentation
- Pursue collaborative research
- Secure external funding
- Publish in peer-reviewed journals
Requirements
- A Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related field
- 2+ years of experience in untargeted LC-MS/MS analysis
- Preference given to applicants with a background operating in a fee-for-service analytical laboratory or core facility environment
- Demonstrated expertise in environmental chemistry, environmental health, archaeology, forensics, metabolomics, or related applied research areas
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills
- Evidence of developing and validating analytical methods
- The ability to collaborate effectively with researchers from diverse disciplines while managing multiple client-driven projects
- Demonstrated record of operating and maintaining chromatography and mass spectrometry instrumentation
Qualifications
- Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification
