About the role
Pioneer the emerging field of cardioinformatics by working together with computational genetics experts and a team of scientists to design and implement bioinformatics and computational biology approaches to analyze human genomic data and drive discoveries in public health, with a focus on biostatistical methods, database development (e.g., HeartBioPortal), AI/machine learning approaches (e.g., causal inference methods), and instrumental variable analysis techniques (e.g., Mendelian Randomization) directly relevant to heart health and disease and its applications to drug discovery.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with computational genetics experts and a team of scientists to design and implement bioinformatics and computational biology approaches to analyze human genomic data and drive discoveries in public health.
- Focus on biostatistical methods, database development (e.g., HeartBioPortal), AI/machine learning approaches (e.g., causal inference methods), and instrumental variable analysis techniques (e.g., Mendelian Randomization) directly relevant to heart health and disease and its applications to drug discovery.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of bioinformatics tools and databases.
- Participate in interdisciplinary research projects related to cardiovascular disease and drug discovery.
Requirements
- PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Statistics, or a related field.
- Experience with bioinformatics tools and databases.
- Strong background in biostatistics and machine learning.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Qualifications
- Expertise in bioinformatics and computational biology.
- Experience with programming languages such as R, Python, or SQL.
- Knowledge of database management systems and data warehousing.
- Experience with machine learning and statistical modeling.
- Understanding of cardiovascular disease mechanisms and drug discovery processes.
