Assistant Refrigeration Manager

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Refrigeration Manager to support the day-to-day operations of the refrigeration department. This is a highly hands-on and mentoring-focused role. The successful candidate will work closely with refrigeration technicians, provide technical guidance, support equipment maintenance and repairs, oversee preventive maintenance activities, and ensure that all work is performed safely and efficiently.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on refrigeration professional and team leader who enjoys working directly with technicians and equipment. They should have strong technical troubleshooting skills, a safety-first mindset, and the ability to mentor and develop a refrigeration team while supporting daily plant operations.

Responsibilities

• Support the daily operations of the refrigeration department.
• Lead and mentor refrigeration technicians.
• Provide hands-on support with troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of refrigeration equipment.
• Coordinate and monitor preventive maintenance activities.
• Help ensure refrigeration systems operate safely, reliably, and efficiently.
• Train technicians on equipment, maintenance procedures, and safety practices.
• Assist with scheduling and prioritizing maintenance activities.
• Ensure compliance with company safety procedures and maintenance standards.
• Identify equipment issues and work proactively to prevent breakdowns and operational disruptions.

Requirements

• 3+ years of refrigeration experience, including supervisory or managerial experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with industrial/commercial refrigeration systems.
• Strong technical knowledge of refrigeration maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, train, and manage refrigeration technicians.
• Trade school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret equipment sketches, technical documentation, and manufacturer instructions.
• Strong understanding of safety protocols and preventive maintenance practices.
• Must be available to work 1st shift.
