What You'll Do

  • Aid the director in developing, implementing, and overseeing therapeutic recreation programs for residents.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to assess residents' needs and preferences.
  • Lead and guide the therapeutic recreation team.
  • Organize and facilitate various opportunities for entertainment, exercise, relaxation, and expression.
  • Ensure residents fulfill their basic psychological, social, and spiritual needs.
  • Create a welcoming and inclusive environment that encourages resident participation.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and make necessary adjustments.
  • Assist families of physically, emotionally, and cognitively impaired individuals in exploring appropriate hobbies and leisure activities.

Qualifications of an Assistant Therapeutic Recreation / Activities

  • A Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) credential is preferred.
  • Proven experience in developing and leading therapeutic recreation programs.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Calmness and empathy in working with seniors.
  • An interest in the needs of the aged and the chronically ill with the ability to work with both.
  • A creative mindset with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to collaborate with team members, residents, and families to create a positive and inclusive environment.
