Assistant Recreation Ranger

The Position

Helix Water District is looking for a Part-Time Assistant Recreation Ranger to work at Lake Jennings. The position offers competitive pay, free fishing, a private boat launch, and day passes.

Details

• Shifts vary between 5 a.m. and 12:30 a.m. Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays.
• You must be available Monday through Sunday in the month of July.
• Typically, 16 - 25 hours per week.
• No more than 950 hours per fiscal year (July 1 - June 30).
• This position is part-time with no benefits.

Overview of Responsibilities

The Assistant Recreation Ranger assists customers with fishing and lake regulations, sells lake tickets, licenses and permits, and maintains the cleanliness and security of the lake and surrounding areas.

Qualifications

• A valid California driver's license.
• Good communication skills, able to use diplomacy when enforcing rules and regulations.
• General maintenance experience including familiarity with hand tools and power-driven equipment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, swim, and possess knowledge of water safety.
• A reliable self-starter who works well with minimum supervision.
• Ability to hike up to 2-3 miles in rough and steep terrain and work outside in extreme weather conditions.
