The Rail Structures Engineer position at Olsson offers an entry-level role that supports the development of purposeful, high-quality design solutions for the railroad sector. This role provides hands-on experience in project design, plan production, and technical engineering calculations.
Responsibilities
- Assist with project design elements using standard techniques and established methods.
- Perform entry-level plan production with clearly defined instructions.
- Gain experience working within design and modeling software.
- Support senior staff with project schedules and technical engineering calculations.
- Contribute to limited portions of broader projects under direct supervision.
- Gather and prepare research for technical reports.
- Provide mentoring to student interns by answering questions and guiding routine assignments.
- Travel and work in various terrain and weather conditions at project sites in different construction stages.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering
- Must possess or obtain Engineer Intern certificate (EI)
- Experience in MicroStation, Risa 3D analysis, and Bluebeam Revu preferred
- Strong communication skills
- Strong problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail
- Ability to contribute and work well on a team
