About the role

The Delta County Prosecutor’s Office seeks an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney. The selected applicant’s responsibilities will primarily focus on trial work in the Probate, District, and Circuit courts. Located at the tip of Lake Michigan, Delta County is the second-largest county in the Upper Peninsula, offering 221 miles of Lake Michigan shoreline, national forests, state and county parks, and resort-like communities. Escanaba, where the courthouse is located, combines small-town charm with city amenities, including local shops, artisans, and a vibrant main street.

Responsibilities

• Handle trial work in Probate, District, and Circuit courts
• Provide legal advice to law enforcement agencies
• Prepare and review search and arrest warrants
• Draft motions, legal memoranda, and appellate briefs
• Conduct legal research
• Perform other duties as directed by the Prosecuting Attorney

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited law school
• Licensed to practice law in Michigan (or eligible to sit for the next available bar examination for exceptional candidates)
• Valid Michigan driver’s license
• Able to pass a background check and physical

Pay

$68,000 – $90,000 yearly
