Assistant Project Manager - Specialty
About the role
The Assistant Project Manager is an entry level position that serves as both a financial and operational leader for drilled shaft construction projects. This role is responsible for assisting in overseeing project estimation, planning, and execution—from bid through closeout.
Responsibilities
- Champion a best-in-class experience for employees, clients, and the community through a shared commitment to advancing the nation’s infrastructure.
- Partner with the Superintendent to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency meet Tri-State’s standards and client expectations.
- Assist and oversee all phases of drilled shaft construction projects, including planning, budgeting, execution, quality assurance, and close-out.
- Estimate, develop, manage, and buy out project budgets, collaborating with the project team to maximize profitability without compromising safety or quality.
- Maintain and update cost databases to reflect current market conditions and ensure accurate future estimates.
- Monitor project schedules, ensuring timely completion of key milestones and deliverables.
- Coordinate with field supervision, clients, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure full compliance with project specifications and requirements.
- Manage and track all submittals, RFIs, and turnover documentation.
- Conduct regular site visits to foster strong team relationships, maintain client communication, monitor progress, and address on-site issues.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
- Eager to learn and understand drilled shaft construction methods, concrete placement, and testing.
- Proficiency in computer skills (e.g., HCSS, Microsoft office suite, Revu Bluebeam).
- Familiarity with interpreting construction drawings, geotechnical reports, and specifications.

Pay
The expected pay range for this position is $70,000 - 90,000 with eligibility for performance-based bonuses. Offers are based on various factors, including skill set, qualifications, experience, location, and other job-related reasons.
