Position Purpose

The Assistant Project Manager – Industrial Services supports the Field Services Department by coordinating daily operations, assisting with project execution, supporting field technicians, and ensuring industrial service projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the planning, coordination, and execution of industrial service projects from scheduling through completion.
  • Work with customers and internal teams to understand project requirements, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Cook up field technicians, equipment, materials, and resources to support successful project execution.
  • Review project scopes, job requirements, and site conditions to identify potential challenges and resource needs.
  • Aid Project Managers and Operations Leadership with maintaining schedules, tracking progress, and communicating updates.
  • Monitor job status, identify potential delays, and escalate issues requiring attention.
  • Cook up with Dispatch and Branch Managers to optimize manpower allocation and daily scheduling.
  • Aid in procurement and coordination of materials, tools, and equipment needed for field operations.
  • Support in-shop and field service projects by helping coordinate workflow, priorities, and completion timelines.
  • Maintain project tracking tools, including schedules, job updates, and progress reporting.
  • Serve as a professional point of contact between customers and EMC operations teams.
  • Communicate project updates, scheduling changes, and operational concerns in a timely manner.
  • Support customer relationships by ensuring commitments are met and service expectations are exceeded.
  • Identify opportunities to improve customer experience and operational efficiency.
  • Support field technicians and supervisors by ensuring jobs are properly planned and prepared.
  • Aid in identifying labor, equipment, material, or scheduling challenges that may impact job completion.
  • Help ensure technicians have the information and resources needed to safely complete assigned work.
  • Promote compliance with safety procedures, job requirements, and company standards.
  • Participate in weekly operations meetings to review priorities, upcoming work, and operational needs.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, labor tracking, job updates, and completion records.
  • Support accurate billing information and project closeout activities.
  • Aid in technician training documentation, certifications, and compliance tracking.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Follow and reinforce company safety procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and quality standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience working in an industrial, manufacturing, electrical, mechanical, maintenance, field service, or technical environment.
  • Strong understanding of industrial operations and the challenges associated with field-based service work.
  • Ability to read and understand technical documentation, job scopes, or equipment requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with customers, technicians, and internal teams.
  • Ability to solve problems, make decisions, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with industrial electrical equipment, motors, drives, generators, controls, or related systems.
  • Previous experience as an electrician, electrical technician, field service technician, maintenance technician, service coordinator, estimator, or industrial supervisor.
  • Experience coordinating projects, crews, schedules, or customer service activities.
  • Knowledge of project scheduling tools, including Gantt charts or similar tracking methods.
  • Experience working in a safety-focused industrial environment.
  • Project management experience or formal project management training is beneficial but not required.

Physical Requirements

  • Standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Reaching with hands and arms.
  • Regularly lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds.
  • Performing work requiring close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
