About the Role

Assistant project managers provide management support on project(s) from final contract until completion. This role involves budgeting, managing, executing, and documenting aspects of assigned projects, working closely with project managers, department managers, and executive management.

Responsibilities

  • Update the project plan and present solutions to various issues.
  • Work with the project manager to meet the needs of all parties and deliver expected project financials.
  • Facilitate and coordinate design and drawing reviews with customers, subcontractors, and internal support departments.
  • Manage all finished samples with general contractors, architects, and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinate updates to project timing.
  • Assist with project financials, managing all costs including internal and external resources to meet or exceed financial targets.
  • Coordinate change orders, including required documentation.
  • Mitigate risk both upstream and downstream with customers and subcontractors.
  • Participate in jobsite meetings with customers and subcontractors as required.
  • Communicate with all team members on all aspects of the project.

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of project management experience in the construction field (preferred).
  • Previous experience in the millwork industry (preferred).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in problem-solving and analysis.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, organize, and implement alternate solutions to challenges.
  • Strong sense of urgency and enthusiasm to learn.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times.
  • Internet savvy with competence in Microsoft Office applications; strong MS Excel proficiency.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to travel to meet the needs of the project.

Physical and Mental Demands

  • Regularly required to talk and listen.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to differentiate color and focus.

Working Environment

This position operates in a professional office environment. The work environment may also involve occasional exposure to jobsites as required by project needs.
