Responsibilities

  • Train and develop Project Engineers as assigned
  • Play a key role in project pursuits across multiple delivery methods (Design-Bid-Build, CM at Risk, Design/Build), including takeoffs, subcontractor solicitation, and bid review
  • Lead efforts to obtain all project permits
  • Create and maintain the site SWPPP book and apply for state/local SWPPP permits/NOIs; maintain SWPPP records
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to draft, submit, track, and negotiate subcontracts, purchase orders, and rental agreements
  • Lead project financials, including updating forecasts and submitting status reports for Project Manager review
  • Manage change orders, preparing Owner and Subcontractor change orders for Project Manager review
  • Lead monthly pay applications, including negotiating subcontractor schedules of values and constructing owner pay applications
  • Plan and lead Owner meetings
  • Assist the Superintendent in planning and leading subcontractor pre-construction and weekly meetings
  • Prepare and submit weekly or monthly owner reports for Project Manager review
  • Serve as the primary contact for jobsite conflict resolution, addressing contract/scope issues between Owner, Contractor, and Subcontractors
  • Create, manage, and track RFIs from the field to the Architect/Engineer of record and distribute to all parties
  • Review subcontractor submittals and submit to the Architect/Engineer for approval based on plans and specifications
  • Lead the creation, updating, and distribution of the project schedule
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager and Superintendent to develop and track the Quality Control procedure
  • Enforce site safety documentation and coordination
  • Maintain and distribute project plans, including reviewing and distributing addendums and bulletins
  • Maintain control of all project documentation, including logs for documents, submittals, RFIs, and change orders
  • Coordinate and maintain special inspection documentation
  • Interpret project plans and specifications to answer field personnel questions
  • Determine appropriate means and methods based on specifications
  • Apply knowledge of building codes and regulations
  • Lead the punch list procedure and project closeout
  • Create and update the “lessons learned” document for the project
  • Lead project closeout, including creating and distributing Operation and Maintenance manuals, as-builts, and warranties

Working Conditions

Construction setting with full-time hours. Travel required. Physical demands include the ability to crawl, climb, walk, reach, bend, kneel, crouch, stand for long periods, lift and hold over 50 lbs, talk, hear, and occasionally sit. Must safely navigate confined spaces, extreme heights, and varying environmental conditions (hot, cold, humid, wet).

Requirements

  • Four-year degree in engineering, building science, or construction management
  • 3–5 years of experience in the Commercial Contracting sector
  • 50% travel required, including national travel multiple times per month
