Assistant Project Manager

About the role

J.F. Sobieski Mechanical Contractors, Inc. is seeking a full-time Assistant Project Manager for its Mechanical Construction Division. Responsibilities

• Support the Project Manager and ensure projects stay within budget
• Act as a liaison between the general contractor, general manager, and superintendents
• Generate reports tracking project progress and reporting findings to the Project Manager
• Process change orders and bill for all work performed on time
• Aid in material ordering, delivery, and communication of any challenges impacting project timelines
• Evaluate the contractual scope of work before project commencement
• Order materials needed for project completion in a timely manner
• Establish strong relationships within the Sobieski teams, general contractor, and other contractors involved in the project

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in construction, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, construction management, or architecture OR associate degree with equivalent work-related experience
• 0-3 years of direct project experience in the construction industry
• Knowledge of mechanical systems, including their design, architecture, interoperability with other proprietary systems, sequences of operation, networking, and communication methodology
• Familiarity with project management software such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and Spitfire
• Proficiency with MS Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Writer, and Visio
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Organized and detail-oriented
• Tenacity to get things done on time and a desire to learn Project Management

Qualifications

• Project management professional (PMP)
• Civil Engineering Quality Control (USACE CQM-C)
• OSHA 30 certification
