Assistant Project Manager

Key Responsibilities

• Aid in planning and scheduling construction activities to meet project milestones and deadlines.
• Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and execution.
• Support project cost tracking and ensure expenditures align with the approved budget.
• Aid in preparing and reviewing change orders and vendor/subcontractor invoices.
• Maintain detailed project documentation, including schedules, daily logs, and progress reports.
• Distribute regular updates to stakeholders.
• Monitor project sites to ensure construction meets design specifications and quality standards.
• Identify and address potential issues or deviations promptly.
• Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Participate in safety meetings and audits as required.
• Provide administrative and logistical support to the project manager.
• Facilitate communication between field teams and office staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
• 2+ years of experience in highway or heavy construction, with exposure to project management tasks.
• Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and equipment.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, B2W, Vista, HeavyJob) and general office applications.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Knowledge of safety standards and regulations, such as OSHA guidelines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with DOT (Department of Transportation) projects.
• Certification in project management (e.g., PMP) or construction safety (e.g., OSHA 30-hour).

Working Conditions

Combination of office and fieldwork; must be comfortable working on active construction sites. May require occasional travel to project locations.
