About the role
The Assistant Project Manager supports Project Managers in the successful design, execution, monitoring, and management of specific construction project deliverables. You will work with Project Coordinators, Engineers, and the field team to ensure project specifics align with engineering, quality, and control requirements.
Responsibilities
- Support in the estimate and finalization of budgets and contract price.
- Negotiate, close, and manage cost-effective subcontract and material purchases.
- Develop, track, and maintain project schedules; study job specifications to determine appropriate construction methods and ensure progress aligns with timing.
- Review critical path and adapt or accelerate projects to meet deadlines.
- Report and update stakeholders on project schedules.
- Complete required tendering process and oversee contract administration.
- Assist in overall planning and defining of project scope for subcontractors and employees.
- Allocate project resources and manage relationships with internal and external resources.
- Maintain regular project documentation, communication, and reporting.
- Collaborate on cost estimating and budget development with stakeholders.
- Identify and manage engineering controls to ensure optimization and efficiency.
- Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential issues, and devise contingency plans.
- Ensure projects are built on budget, on schedule, and according to drawing specifications.
- Prepare, adjust, and complete job close-out procedures.
- Use AI tools responsibly to support research, analysis, content development, design, reporting, or operational efficiency, ensuring compliance with company policies, data privacy, and confidentiality obligations.
- Review AI-generated outputs for accuracy and quality before use, disclose AI tool usage, and avoid presenting AI-generated content as solely original work.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience as a Project Engineer.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Construction Management, Architectural Design, or related field (or equivalent foreign degree/education and experience).
- Direct work experience in project coordination, including all aspects of process development and execution.
- Experience overseeing multi-family projects.
- Project Management education is an asset.

Pay
$100,000–$140,000 per year.
