Job Responsibilities

  • Aid the project team in managing internal and external engineering teams including multi-trade engineering coordination and shop drawing review
  • Estimating, budgeting, and writing proposals
  • Understanding contracts and contractual scope
  • Planning and scheduling including short-term interval scheduling of various crafts
  • Managing material, equipment, tools, information, and subcontractors on each job
  • Procuring material, equipment, and subcontractors
  • Controlling costs (internal accounting system, change orders, etc)
  • Ensuring quality and performance
  • Communicating with general contractors, architects, engineers, and owners
  • Supporting field crews during start-up, commissioning, and owner training
  • Mentoring and developing co-ops

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering, technology, or building construction or equivalent business management degree with a focus on construction or engineering and 1-2 years of project management experience overseeing technicians working with mechanical systems
  • If no degree, a minimum of 5+ years of internal experience working with plumbing, piping, or HVAC systems in the office or the field
  • PC experience in Windows environments, working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, Web-enabled applications, and database software

Preferred Requirements

  • Demonstrated successful experience in the construction industry
  • Two years of experience managing mechanical work
  • Strong business acumen (entrepreneurship counts)
  • Knowledge of account management (managing multiple customers)
  • Leadership exposure (conferences, training, etc.)
