About the role
The Assistant Project Manager (APM) role at MATT Construction involves orchestrating the procurement of trades, monitoring the procurement schedule, interacting with subcontractors, reviewing payment applications, assisting with project management tasks, and mentoring a team of Project Engineers. This position requires a builder’s mindset, working closely with field superintendents to ensure project schedules and quality of installed materials.
Responsibilities
- Assisting the project manager with managing profitability, staff development, and positive client relations, in tandem with the superintendent
- Assisting the project manager with constructability reviews and problem-solving
- Working with supervision and the project manager to maintain the schedule
- Proactively leading safety efforts
- Supervising project engineers and interns
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction, Architecture, or Engineering preferred, but experience will be considered in lieu of education
- At least 6 years of building construction experience with at least 3 years in a Senior Project Engineer role
- Understanding of the construction management process and procedures including estimating, budget control, scheduling, safety management, subcontracts, change orders, submittals, RFIs, and closeout
- Technical knowledge of building components and systems
- An aptitude for mentoring and training
- Experience with BIM and subcontract coordination
- A passion for building
Qualifications
