Assistant Project Manager

About the Role
JM Mechanical is looking for an Assistant Project Manager (APM) to join our Project Management & Operations team. The Assistant Project Manager works alongside Project Managers, Project Executives, and field leadership to help keep commercial HVAC projects organized, on schedule, and within budget. This is a hands-on opportunity to learn the construction project management process while gaining experience in project coordination, scheduling, BIM/Revit, materials, cost tracking, and field operations.
Responsibilities
- Assist Project Managers and Project Executives with planning and coordinating commercial HVAC projects.
- Support project scheduling, milestone tracking, and daily project activities.
- Work with field foremen and crews to help keep projects on schedule and meeting expectations.
- Assist with Revit and Stratus drafting, 3D modeling, shop drawings, and project updates.
- Help coordinate HVAC designs with other trades and identify potential conflicts before installation.
- Assist with material take-offs, equipment counts, and procurement.
- Track equipment and material deliveries to ensure crews have what they need when they need it.
- Monitor labor productivity and project costs against established budgets.
- Assist with submittals and Requests for Information (RFIs).
- Help maintain project documentation, daily logs, meeting minutes, progress reports, and other project records.
- Support Project Managers with billing, change orders, scheduling, and other project needs.
- Communicate with project teams, engineers, architects, vendors, and other project stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to improve project workflows and efficiency.
Requirements
We're looking for someone who is organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and eager to learn. Ideal candidates will have:
- A degree, technical education, or relevant experience in construction management, engineering, HVAC, drafting, or a related field.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new software and systems.
- The ability to work effectively with both office and field teams.
- A willingness to learn construction processes and commercial HVAC operations.

Pay
$55,000–$65,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.
