Assistant Project Manager
About the role
Gordon Highlander is looking for an enthusiastic and hardworking Assistant Superintendent to join our field operations team. This entry-level position is designed for individuals who are eager to learn, grow, and build a long-term career in commercial construction. Working alongside experienced Superintendents, you'll gain hands-on experience managing active construction projects while learning the fundamentals of field operations, safety, scheduling, quality control, and subcontractor coordination. Responsibilities
- Assist Superintendents with the day-to-day management of commercial construction projects
- Help coordinate subcontractors and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards
- Monitor daily jobsite activities and support project scheduling
- Conduct site walks and help identify potential safety or quality concerns
- Assist with inspections, punch lists, and project closeout activities
- Maintain accurate project documentation, daily reports, and field records
- Coordinate material deliveries and help ensure jobsite organization
- Communicate effectively with project teams, subcontractors, and vendors
- Learn construction processes, project management principles, and field leadership responsibilities
- Support a safe, productive, and positive jobsite culture
Qualifications
- Interest in building a career in commercial construction
- Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to take initiative
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to adapt quickly and work effectively in changing environments

- Eagerness to learn new skills and apply feedback
- Ability to retain and apply new knowledge as responsibilities grow
- Previous construction, trade, or field experience is a plus but not required
- OSHA 10 certification is a plus
- Basic understanding of construction drawings and jobsite safety practices is beneficial
- Valid driver's license with the ability to travel to project sites throughout the DFW area
